This striking pendant by German maker Andreas Daub is made of solid sterling silver and set with a deep violet amethyst in a raised bezel mount. It measures 34 mm long and 22 mm wide, with an 11.5 mm bale stamped 925 A★D for Andreas Daub of Pforzheim. The stone is 13.5 × 10 mm. Total weight is 8.49 g including its unusual silver chain, which alternates three ball links with a long bar link and is stamped 925. The bold angular frame and textured surround place this piece firmly within the mid-century modernist movement that swept post-war European design. Andreas Daub pieces of this era show the influence of both Scandinavian form and German precision engineering, producing work that was architectural yet wearable.
